കരിങ്കുഴലിമാരൊടു കലർന്നുരുകിയപ്പു-
ങ്കുരുന്നടി പിരിഞ്ഞടിയനിങ്ങു കുഴയുന്നു
പെരും കരുണയാറണിയുമയ്യനെ മറന്നി-
ത്തുരുമ്പനിനിയെന്തിനുയിരോടു മരുവുന്നു?

Transliteration
Kariṅkuḻalimāroṭu kalarnnurukiyappū-
ṅkurunnaṭi piriññaṭiyaniṅṅu kuḻayunnu
Peruṃ karuṇayāṟaṇiyumayyane maṟanni-
tturumpaniniyentinuyirōṭu maruvunnu?

Meaning
By mingling with dark-haired damsels
And becoming lost in the pleasure it gives,
This humble one, completely upset,
Wanders aimlessly and confusedly,
Alienated from your tender, loving feet.
Why should this straw-like insignificant one,
Oblivious of the Great Lord who is
Adorned with the great river,
Remain here alive any longer?
