Verse 1
കാലദേശകനകങ്ങൾ വിസ്‌മൃതി കരസ്ഥ-
മാക്കുമതുപോലെയ-
പ്പാലെടുത്തു പരുകും ഖഗം ബകമെതിർത്തു
ശുക്തിയതുപോലെ താൻ
വേല ചെയ്തുലയിൽ വച്ചുരുക്കിയൊരിരുമ്പി-
ലൊറ്റിയ ജലം വിയ-
ജ്ജ്വാലയിൽ പണമറിഞ്ഞു കൊള്ളുമുപദേശ-
മോർക്കിലിതു പോലെയാം.

Transliteration
Kāladiteralized Kāladēśakanakaṅṅaḷ vismr̥ti karastha-  
mākkumatupōleya-  
ppāleṭuttu parukuṃ khagaṃ bakametirttu  
Śuktiyatupōle tān  
Vēla ceytulayil vaccurukkiyorirumpi-  
loṟṟiya jalaṃ viya-  
jjvālayil paṇamaṟiññu koḷḷumupadēśa-  
mōrkkilitu pōleyāṃ.

Meaning
Like how time, place, and wealth slip into oblivion,
Held in the hands yet forgotten-
Like a bird, a heron, lifting milk to drink,
Opposed by the oyster’s might,
Or like water poured onto molten iron forged by labor-
Sweating in the fiery blaze-
The advice that knows its worth in the flames,
Let it be remembered thus.
