Transliteration
Nityānityavivekato hi nitarāṃ nirvedamāpadya sad-
vidvānatra śamādiṣaṭkalasitaḥ syānmuktikāmo bhuvi|
Paścādbrahmaviduttamaṃ praṇatisevādyaiḥ prasannaṃ guruṃ
Pṛcchet ko'hamidaṃ kuto jagaditi svāmin! vada tvaṃ prabho!

Meaning
A well-learned one, because of being naturally
Endowed with the ability to discriminate
The eternal from the transient (aspects of life),
Becomes completely uninterested in the transient.
He, then, having become luminous
By undergoing the six self-imposed disciplines
That begin with śama,
Develops the intense desire to attain
Liberation while being in this world.
He, then should properly approach
A best brahman knowing-guru,
And after pleasing him with prostrations and services,
Should ask him,
"O Master, who am I?
How was this phenomenal world originated?
Please teach me, O Lord!"
