Summary

One of the disciples Maravūr Bhāskaran Nair (later Swāmi Bhāskarānanda) writes that when Guru was asked about the meaning of Verse 24 of this work, he simply remarked "Śiva Śatakam was written for the benefit of the world, while we were at Maruthvāmala......." Mṛgendramukham and its various combinations and Drutaviḷaṃbitaṃ, are the metres used. The date could be around 1884, and it is in the Malayalam language.

അഴകൊടു ഭാരതയുദ്ധമദ്രിയിന്മേൽ
മുഴുചെവിയൻ മുറികൊമ്പുകൊണ്ടു മുന്നം
എഴുതി നിറച്ചെളിയോർക്കിണങ്ങി നിൽക്കും 
മുഴുമുതലാകിയ മൂർത്തി കാത്തുകൊൾക!

Transliteration
Aḻakoṭu bhāratayuddhamadriyinmēl
Muḻuceviyan muṟikompukoṇṭu munnaṃ
Eḻuti niṟacceḷiyōrkkiṇaṅṅi nilkkuṃ
Muḻumutalākiya mūrtti kāttukoḷka!

Meaning
Gracefully, the big-eared-one,
Of old (Gaṇapati), using his own
Broken tusk as pen,
Took down the story
Of the Mahabharata Battle
And filled the pages
Of the book Mount Mēru!
He thus remains a constant
Friend of the lowly.
May that deity,
The plenitude of values rich,
Bestow protecting cares on us!
